About
Located in the picturesque town of Albate, Italy, La Costa - Via Feliciano Ninguarda invites diners into a world where culinary passion merges seamlessly with genuine hospitality. Nestled at Via Feliciano Ninguarda, 19, this delightful trattoria is managed by the warm and welcoming couple, Elisabetta and Ivan, who have cultivated a space that feels more like a home than a restaurant.
The moment you step through the doors of La Costa, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and conviviality. Guest reviews consistently highlight the impeccable service and attention to detail that make every meal a memorable occasion. As James Larson aptly noted, you are treated as long-awaited guests rather than mere patrons, which sets the stage for an extraordinary dining experience.
One of the standout features of La Costa is its commitment to fresh, local ingredients. The menu boasts a variety of homemade pasta dishes, succulent meat specialties, and seasonal vegetables sourced from the owners' own garden. Diners rave about the quality and flavor of each dish, with special recommendations highlighting the “Carne Salada” as a must-try starter. The uniqueness of each plate reflects the love and skill that Ivan pours into his culinary creations.
Another highlight is the restaurant's impressive wine selection. With Ivan as a trained sommelier, guests can expect curated pairings that enhance each dish beautifully. This thoughtful approach to food and wine elevates the dining experience and transports you straight to the heart of Italian cuisine.
If you're seeking an authentic Italian meal that offers both comfort and excitement, La Costa is a hidden gem worth exploring. As Chris Kwon describes, it is cozy, making it ideal to unwind with comforting staples like their celebrated polenta. The focus on quality and tradition resonates deeply with locals, making La Costa a beloved choice for those in the know.
Whether you’re a local or a traveler passing through Como, La Costa is a culinary treasure that promises to delight your palate and soothe your soul. Be sure to make a reservation – this charming trattoria is often bustling with eager diners eager to indulge in a true taste of Italy!
“ Very good and typical trattoria. The waiters are very nice and we could try numerous specialities and also pink prosecco. Good food, good atmosphere, real italian experience ! ”
“ Been there two days ago after two weeks trip in Italy. I went almost every night to an Italian restaurant, and La Costa is the best one. The food is home made, fresh, spices are just perfect, and the taste..... oh the taste. Will definitely go back in my next trip. Also, the price is really affordable comparing the other restaurants. Just perfetto!!! ”
“ What a wonderful first dinner in Como, Italy. Ivan and Nessi are awesome. Nessi was so warm and welcoming, she made us feel right at home in Italy. Her husband Ivan is an awesome chef and sommelier. He helped us pick a fabulous wine for dinner down in the cellar. Needles to save the food was fantastic. When you are in Como, make sure to visit this restaurant. ”
“ A cozy Italian restaurant where I could relax with a range of comfort food. (Their Polenta was best for me !) Kind and friendly owner who is easy to communicate in English. They also have good bottles of wine and the chef himself is a qualified Sommelier ! Definitely recommend to visit ! ”
“ I wish I could give this 6 stars. The family who owns this are so kind, and make the experience beyond anything we’ve experienced in Italy. If you are looking for a place that treats you like guests in their house, this is the place! Things to note, parking is behind or on the street. All the food is local, including the herbs from their own garden. With appetizers, 2 courses, and 5 bottles of wine, it came to about 100 Euro per person, which is a very fair price! ”
“ A culinary gem with incredibly warm hosts! Trattoria La Costa is a true feast for the senses. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you’re welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The charm of the historic building, combined with the hospitality of the team, makes every visit a truly special experience. The dishes are of exceptional quality, freshly prepared, and absolutely delicious. The homemade pasta dishes and perfectly cooked meat specialties are especially noteworthy – but honestly, everything here is simply outstanding. You can feel the passion and love that goes into every dish. A personal tip: Make sure to try the “Carne Salada” as a starter – but don’t tell everyone, or there might not be any left for us! The wine selection is equally impressive. The well-stocked cellar offers the perfect pairing for every dish on the menu. We visit this restaurant 2-3 times a year and would probably come here every weekend if it weren’t 150 km away. In a way, I’m glad La Costa is a bit off the beaten path and not overrun by tourists – it remains a true insider tip! For me, it’s the best restaurant in Northern Italy. The Trattoria exudes authentic Italian charm. I truly can’t understand the negative reviews. There’s a reason why mainly locals dine here. My advice: Be sure to make a reservation, as the restaurant is often fully booked in the evenings. As for the criticism about supposedly small portions or high prices? It’s absurd. Such comments must come from people who don’t truly appreciate good food or wine. If you don’t enjoy at least 2-3 courses here, you’re missing out on a real culinary experience. I wish Elisabetta and Ivan continued joy and success with their passion – and I’m already looking forward to my next visit to this wonderful restaurant! ”
“ The owner is friendly. Even though we arrived at 2pm, she assured us we were welcomed (as their closing time is 2:30pm). The food was delicious. We ordered beef carpaccio which is homemade. The venison ragu was excellent. Highly recommended!!! ”
